Empowering Local Action for National Change

At VIVID, we know that true power starts at the local level. While national policies set the stage for LGBTQ+ rights, real change happens in the streets, in communities, in local elections, and in state legislatures. The attacks on our rights don’t just happen in Washington, D.C.—they happen in school boards, city councils, and courtrooms across the country.

That’s why we have built a statewide and local chapter structure that allows our movement to be everywhere it’s needed.

VIVID chapters aren’t just support groups or advocacy circles—they are action-driven hubs where we train leaders, mobilize direct action, and build political power. They are where protests and marches are organized, where local candidates are supported and mobilized, and where statehouse and city council votes are influenced. When an LGBTQ+ person is in danger, our chapters deploy rapid-response crisis intervention. When corporations and institutions fund anti-LGBTQ+ agendas, our chapters take direct action, launching boycotts and accountability campaigns.

Every chapter is part of our national strategy, working together to make sure LGBTQ+ power is felt at every level of society. Whether it’s a single protest or a coordinated statewide campaign, VIVID chapters ensure that no attack on our rights goes unanswered. We are not just advocating for change—we are enforcing it.

Grassroots Power Meets National Strategy

At VIVID, we know that real change happens when local voices and national power work together. That’s why our structure allows for local autonomy while ensuring every action feeds into a national strategy.

This is more than just a network of chapters—it’s a movement built to last.

Our Chapter Structure

National Headquarters – Washington, D.C.

Our Washington, D.C. headquarters is the nerve center of VIVID. This is where we coordinate national policy action, mass mobilization, and high-level investigations into those who threaten LGBTQ+ rights.

The D.C. Chapter is also the official headquarters of VIVID’s leadership team, national organizers, and legal/policy strategists.

The Role of the D.C. HQ:

  • National Campaigns & Protests: We organize major national marches, policy campaigns, and direct actions targeting federal lawmakers.

  • Policy & Legislative Advocacy: Our legal and policy teams work on federal-level LGBTQ+ protections, political endorsements, and legislative battles.

  • Crisis Support Coordination: When an LGBTQ+ person faces immediate danger, eviction, or hate crimes, we coordinate nationwide support and relocation efforts.

  • Corporate & Government Accountability Investigations: We track, expose, and mobilize action againstcorporations, institutions, and politicians who fund or enforce anti-LGBTQ+ policies.

  • National Chapter Training & Resources: We provide leadership training, strategy guides, and resources to every state and local chapter.

The D.C. HQ sets the national agenda, but our real power comes from the activists and organizers in every state.

State Chapters

The Backbone of VIVID’s Movement

Every fight for LGBTQ+ rights is local. From trans bans to book censorship to workplace discrimination, the laws that shape our lives are often decided at the state level. That’s why every state in the U.S. needs a VIVID chapter.

State chapters focus on mobilizing activists, tracking state legislation, and applying pressure where it matters most. They are independent and adaptable, but connected to the national movement.

The Role of State Chapters:

  • Legislative Battles: We track and fight anti-LGBTQ+ bills in state legislatures, organizing protests and pressure campaigns.

  • Voter Mobilization: We register, educate, and turn out LGBTQ+ voters, ensuring that every election cycle shifts in our favor.

  • Local Crisis Intervention: From banning trans healthcare to housing discrimination, we provide on-the-ground emergency response.

  • Organizing Local Boycotts & Direct Actions: We take the national fight against corporations into local stores, workplaces, and communities.

  • Media & Awareness: We hold press conferences, create viral campaigns, and make sure LGBTQ+ voices are impossible to ignore.

Each state chapter has a designated Chapter Lead who serves as the primary coordinator, ensuring that local action is strategic, effective, and connected to our national fight.

Local Chapters & Community Hubs

Taking Action Closer to Home

In addition to statewide organizing, we go even deeper.

VIVID local chapters and community hubs operate in cities, colleges, and smaller towns to make sure that no LGBTQ+ person is left behind in this fight.

In many places, especially rural areas and conservative states, LGBTQ+ people are isolated and vulnerable. That’s where our local chapters are essential.

The Role of Local Chapters:

  • City & Campus Activism: We ensure that even in hostile areas, LGBTQ+ students and young people can organize and fight back.

  • Local Protest Coordination: We mobilize city-specific protests, sit-ins, and legislative pressure campaigns.

  • Rapid-Response Actions: If a school district bans LGBTQ+ books, we’re outside the school board meeting making our voices heard.

  • Support Networks: We build community safety networks, legal aid teams, and social support systems for those at risk.

  • Fundraising & Mutual Aid: We raise money for local trans healthcare funds, LGBTQ+ emergency housing, and community defense efforts.

Local chapters are the on-the-ground force that ensures VIVID is present wherever we are needed.
